House Tour - The Drawing Room

Victorian Drawing Room

We use the Drawing Room as our multi-purpose room. The room runs from the front to the back of the house with windows at both ends. It is used when we have large dinner parties. The men retreat here after dinner to smoke their cigars, engage in conversation and play cards.

On the other side of the room is a more traditional seating area. Along the wall not shown is a fairly large bookcase filled with books from ceiling to floor. This also is not common in the Victorian home as books were very expensive. Also, in one corner is a small table which I use as a desk to do the accounts and a pianoforte in the other.
